Adventure
My project is a 3D Animation about two fearless Lego characters sailing the open seas in search of treasure until they discover their “ocean” is actually just a desk in a bedroom. When they spot a golden treasure chest across the room, they realize their ship will never make it and are forced to come up with a new plan in retrieving the treasure
The inspiration behind this short was mostly from my childhood. At a young age I discovered stop motion through YouTube. I would often watch stop motions that would use my favorite toys, which most videos were of Legos. Those videos that I grew up on is what sparked my interest in animation, and from watching them I started to create my own stop motion videos.
Although my project is complete it was not a smooth “adventure”. Last semester I had a much larger concept that dove deeper into my stop motion background but due to time constraints I concluded to scrap that idea. At the beginning of this semester, I was very lost, I now was basically starting at back at square one. At that point I had lost all hope, then I thought back to myself a few years back and remembered how excited I was to come to this school to learn how to animate. That memory was what gave me the drive to finish this project.
I came to UMass Lowell because I wanted to learn how to animate not only in stop motion but in other mediums/methods. My initial interest in stop motion pushed me to become more imaginative as an animator and led me to this school to further my craft. For my final project here at UMass Lowell, I knew in my heart that I wanted to make something that was inspired by my journey that led me all this way.
