Quynh Nguyen
Yutura
I like to find inspiration in the media around me—whether it’s an inspiring movie, a game I love, or good music. I’m drawn to the sense of awe that comes from experiencing something beautifully animated or stepping into a new game for the first time, and I aim to recreate that feeling in my own work.
Over time, that passion evolved into different ideas for building my own world. Yutura has grown significantly since I first created it in high school, representing how I’ve grown as a person. What I valued in the project has changed over time, and it now feels like something that has grown alongside me. What began as a silly idea about a teahouse on the moon has transformed into a story exploring the commodification of a culture. The project draws viewers in with a sense of wonder, then encourages a more critical look at what lies beneath that beauty. Though set in another world, Yutura ultimately serves as a commentary on Asian American experiences of gentrification in America.
