As an artist and designer, my work is deeply influenced by my environment and the communities around me. Living in a city that actively celebrates art and culture has allowed me to experience the powerful role art and design plays in bringing people together. Public art, in particular, has always resonated with me; not only as a form of expression, but as a shared experience that brings people together.
I am especially passionate about the idea that public art should be accessible to everyone; viewers and artists. The opportunity to contribute to the visual and cultural landscape of a community should not feel out of reach for emerging or independent artists. This is what inspired me to create Art Works Here.
Art Works Here was created as a resource and information hub for artists seeking to engage with public art. By providing guidance, tools, and opportunities, the platform aims to lower barriers to entry and empower artists to bring their work into shared spaces. In doing so, it fosters more inclusive, vibrant environments, where art is not only seen, but experienced collectively; strengthening the connection between artists and the communities they serve.
