"Raíces" is a virtual reality game that immerses players in the vibrant and rich culture of the Dominican Republic, through the eyes of an immigrant artist who reflects on her childhood memories. The experience’s design and aesthetics are inspired by my memories and heritage, featuring authentic architecture, music, and cultural artifacts, allowing players to abstractly experience my memories as if they were their own. The game's immersive experience is enhanced by its use of cutting-edge virtual reality technology, allowing players to fully engage with the world around them, and reflect on the importance of their roots and the impact that their memories have had on their lives.
Artist/Thesis Statement
My art is a reflection of my personal experiences, shaped by my upbringing in the Dominican Republic and my immigration to the United States. Through a multimedia approach that blends 3D animation, design, and Virtual and Augmented Reality sculptures, I explore themes of identity, culture, and the human experience, in the hopes of creating a dialogue between myself and the viewers.
Beyond simply playing around with creating visually striking pieces, I am passionate about using my art and design skills to bring awareness to social issues and to create positive change. I believe that art has the power to make a real human impact and to challenge people's perspectives on important topics. Through my art and drawing on a wide range of influences and techniques, I hope to continue pushing the boundaries of what is possible, creating thought-provoking, emotionally powerful, and visually striking work, and to inspire others to think critically about their own experiences and the world around them.
