Rescued is the tale of two unlikely friends and their journeys together. When a lone wanderer makes the decision to save a tiny creature from being eaten, he unknowingly makes a lifelong pal as the creature begins to follow him around. However, when the creature is taken in the middle of the night, it is up to the wanderer to save his friend.
Artist/Thesis Statement
Rescued is a one and a half minute 2D animated short film with its own original piece of music. The story revolves around the bond created by two unlikely friends. When a lone wanderer makes the decision to save a rare little creature, he unknowingly will make a strong connection with the creature as it begins to follow him around. However, when the creature is taken in the middle of the night by a poacher, it is up to the lone wanderer to go and save his little buddy.
The work is meant to show not only my take on a classic type of story such as the rescue story, but also to show my skills as an animator. My inspiration comes from the many animated series that I grew up watching. These series span from western series such as Teen Titans and Avatar the last Airbender, to eastern series such as Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, and One Piece. These series have shaped my taste in animation, but also have helped me see what story beats are needed to hook an audience and make a lasting story. The influence that these series have on my work will be evident in Rescued for those that are familiar with the shows that have been referenced.
