Artist/Thesis Statement
My work draws inspiration from El Salvadorian folk art. Through the use of bright and bold colors and a flat graphic sensibility, I create paintings. Most of my inspiration is based upon my own relationship to my El Salvadorian heritage and my upbringing in the United States.
I create my paintings with the use of acrylic paint on wood panel and canvases. I draw and paint freely on the canvas and wood panels exploring shape and form. The use of lines and dots are used as a visual aspect and created an eccentricity in my paintings. I use a specific color palette that consists of bright and bold colors while playing around more with shapes and lines. This allows me to see what I am able to create with them in my paintings while still trying to maintain honor towards my cultural background.
