Micro
Welcome to Micro, a project dedicated to teaching young adults to make better food choices for improved health and longevity. Encouraging healthy habits in a world that does the exact opposite is our main focus and goal. We do this through food logs, gut simulators, and even food guidelines. All these tools come together to get young people interested in healthy eating!
Artist/Thesis Statement
When I was younger, my parents would always tell me to eat certain things in order to feel better. I didn’t realize until I was a bit older that not everyone grew up with the perspective of food being a true medicine. As I grew up I became very interested in health, and eventually was vegetarian and later, vegan. These changes seemed strange to my friends, family, and even my parents who were the first people in my life to encourage me to eat healthy. Over time it became increasingly normal, but I still found there to be a huge lack of understanding in what was truly healthy in the overall population.
This is where Micro comes in. Micro helps young adults truly understand the connection between what they eat and how they feel. This may seem obvious, but as a society we have grown accustomed to choosing the short-term solution when it comes to health. There is always a quick fix to whatever problem we may have, but it never lasts. Micro is all about encouraging young people to form healthy habits that truly last a lifetime. We accomplish this through our website that has many resources and interactive tools for learning as well as our eye-catching posters, prints, and stickers. These deliverables all serve as a reminder that you are what you eat.
