Si is an Eco-friendly clothing brand created with the goal of bringing old clothes back to life by printing unique designs over already used clothed. Visually Si puts a strong emphasis on eyes. The symbolism behind an eye is usually associated with judgment. Si tries to bring people’s judgment into play by providing them a better alternative to fast fashion and negative consumption.
Artist/Thesis Statement
I have always been interested in clothing and fashion. There has always been a battle in the back of my head about clothing, price, and the environment. I decided to spend some time thinking how I could create a solution for these three big problems. As I researched and spent more time with the idea, I realized that the biggest problem of these three was the impact that clothing has on the environment. How fast fashion has affected the environment over the years by creating unhealthy work environments, plastic waste in the water, and waste in general. Because of this I decided to brainstorm how a clothing brand could be more eco-friendly and at the same time be stylish. A brand that embraces the concept of recycling and reusing. Welcome to Si, the name of an environmentally friendly clothing brand.
This clothing brand main goal is to reuse old clothes that might be stained or just outdated, and print new, unique, and more stylish designs over them. I have always been fascinated by eyes and when reading the definition of “see” I came across a couple interesting concepts that just resonated perfectly with the brand. For example: “To be aware of”, “To perceive by the eye”, “To perceive the meaning or importance of”, “To regard as, judge”. Because of this the name Si (yes in Spanish and reads as see in English) was a perfect. The strong environmental/no-waste narrative behind Si tries to bring people’s judgment into play by providing them a better alternative to fast fashion and negative consumption.
