Hello! I’m Duncan, and I’m the creator of the comic book,Weird World 2452. This project was an awesome experience and a real challenge. It takes place in the distant future, where a group of characters sets out to solve a mysterious murder — but as they dig deeper, the case becomes far stranger and more dangerous than they ever expected.
Artist/Thesis Statement
I’ve always loved comic books. Along with animation, they’ve been a great source of comfort and inspiration throughout my life. So naturally, I wanted to try creating one myself. Finding the right story was a challenge—I knew I wanted something fun, something action-packed that would leave readers entertained. Eventually, I landed on a sci-fi detective story, drawing from my love of the genre and influences like Batman Beyond and the pilot of the canceled series Rat Bastard.
The next challenge was figuring out the look of the book. I struggled at first to find an art style that felt right. I’m a big fan of Mike Mignola’s work, especially his use of deep black shadows, and I also admire the clean, efficient style of the Mega Man Archie comics. I tried to combine those two aesthetics into something that felt uniquely mine—you can be the judge of whether or not I pulled it off.
This project has been both incredibly challenging and deeply rewarding. I’ve learned a lot, and above all, I hope readers enjoy the book as much as I enjoyed making it
