Ready, Set, Pup!
Ready Set Pup aims to teach people how to take care of a puppy before their first adoption. Up to 20% of dogs are returned to shelters because some people don’t know the responsibilities a pup actually brings. This app will prepare new owners and also teach you what to expect to avoid any impulsive decisions when adopting.
Artist/Thesis Statement
I remember always asking my family for a dog and during my senior year of high school I finally got the chance to visit a shelter. I’ll never forget the day I first saw my dog and adopted him, which we named Luke. But that day also stayed with me for another reason, I saw there were countless other dogs still waiting for a home. When it came time for my senior project, I wanted to do something to help.
I’ve chosen to address the issue that up to 20% of adopted dogs are returned to shelters, which impacts both the dogs and the shelters.I can’t imagine the feeling of thinking you’ve found a forever home, only to be returned back. This issue has given me the drive and passion to create Ready Set Pup. This app will help teach you how to care for a pup to avoid owners not knowing what they are getting into. I’m incredibly proud to share my work, especially with my family in Peru who have always supported me as well.
