Mirror
From a young age, I was always drawn to animation, and this form of storytelling. Artists are able to use drawings and moving imagery to tell their stories. These stories can range from action-packed thrillers to educational and political. The “pen” is in the artists’ hands and with it they can tell whatever story they feel. Mirror is a story I want to tell with my pen.

Artist/Thesis Statement
I wanted to explore fear and anxiety. In this animation, we study the mindspace of a person and how they cope with different issues that life poses. In this particular case, an artist is struggling with their emotions and feels blocked. Having trouble with creating, even though it is their passion to create. All these emotions lead the artist to eventually break down and we watch as they try to maneuver this mindspace and bring themselves back up from the pit they're in.
Inspired by works such as “Look Back” and “The Boy and the Heron”, I am also looking to establish a connection with the viewer and allow them to feel what is on the tv screen. These works resonate with me because they also feature characters that feel lost and struggle with finding a purpose in life. These feelings of being lost, self-deprecation, and imposter-syndrome are emotions that I, and a lot of people experience. And I want this animation to offer any tiny bit of relief from those emotions.
