coupled is an interactive exhibit that explores the connection between design and sport. There are many connections between design and sport, from the use of typography, to the reliance on grids, and so much more. This interactive exhibit aims to show the parallels between the two disciplines through collective comparisons, urging the viewer to experience them for themselves.
Artist/Thesis Statement
During my four years at UMass Lowell, I experienced what felt like two distinct worlds. As a student-athlete, I often felt disconnected from my studies in graphic design. However, I soon recognized the strong parallels between these disciplines.They both rely on time-management, have rigorous schedules, and are forms of self-expression, just to name a few.
Driven by a desire to explore this connection further, I was passionate to develop a project that uncovers the relationship between the two. coupled is an interactive exhibit that highlights the intersection of design and sport, illustrating their similarities and the ways in which they influence and depend on each other.
