F*ck Fast Fashion

F*ck Fast Fashion is a campaign designed to challenge the fast fashion industry by encouraging people to upcycle. Participants are awarded with badges for taking sustainable actions, turning small choices into meaningful impact.
Artist/Thesis Statement
For most of my life, I was a consumer of fast fashion, buying cheap, trendy items without thinking much about it. I didn’t understand the environmental impact of buying cheap clothes. One day, I realized I had multiple shirts in similar style, just in different colors, and it made me question why clothes were so inexpensive. I discovered the harsh truths of fast fashion: short lifespans, labor exploitation, and textile waste. Many clothes are made in unsafe working conditions, low wages, child labor, and long hours. The cheap prices encourage overconsumption, leading people to toss or donate clothes. However, only 10-20% of donated items actually end up at thrift stores or are passed on to those in need; the rest end up discarded or in landfills. This motivated me to create a campaign that encourages people to thrift or upcycle their clothes instead of buying new ones or tossing them out, aiming to help fight fast fashion. By rewarding positive actions with fun badges, we can help motivate others to make more conscious and sustainable choices.
