Depths
This piece is called Depths. The streets of London are a dangerous place in the 1900s. People are mysteriously going missing, leaving no trace. “Depths” follows Samuel, who has been hired to find a man that has recently disappeared. He only has one dubious lead, and it leads him into the sewers- where he finds much more than he bargained for; stumbling onto a hidden Lovecraftian style cult sacrificing the populace to their Old God.

Artist/Thesis Statement
My name is Nick, and I make stuff.
I spent most of my adult life in and out of the military, but I've always liked to create. From cooking and drawing all the way to blacksmithing and leather work, I've always enjoyed creating. I lean towards a darker style, with elements of history and industry plus a healthy splash of supernatural horror. My favorite stories tend to be about the unrelenting human spirit, standing their ground against forces far stronger than themselves.
With that being said, I have fallen in love with the audio portions of media. From animations to video games to audiobooks and audio dramas, good audio can really immerse the audience in the action. A well-made soundscape can tell a story without having any visuals. This involves much more than just voice lines as well. Ambient sound, a well-placed musical sting or crescendo, or even just a slight echo can have a strong subconscious effect on the audience’s mind.

I focused more on the audio elements in Depths. It was originally planned to be a full animation- a visual project that was enhanced by audio- but instead it became more of an audio project that had some visual elements to help guide a viewer. I want the story of Depths to be able to follow without visuals, allowing the imagination of the viewer to take over and fill the gaps from the depths (see what I did there?) of their own mind.
