Returning to
Wholeness
“Returning to Wholeness” is a graphic novel about going back in time and changing those memories to try to create a different outcome in life.

Artist/Thesis Statement
For my Senior Studio project, I am working on a graphic novel called “Returning to Wholeness”. The novel is about a character who struggles from moving on from two distressful moments that have happened in her life. She viewed a commercial about patients being able to go back into the past. The next day she talks to her therapist about this treatment and is able to enroll in it, where she gets to travel to a time when she was a child. When she travels back to these events, she makes a different decision than what originally happened. Thinking that this possibility will change her outcome when she goes back into the future. To her dismay, the new decisions she made during treatment did not change the outcome of the incidents.
My artwork is mainly 2D illustrations. When coming up with a visual story, I base ideas from real events. The messages that convey through my artwork are often about healing yourself. In order to grow as a person, it is important that negative experiences or thoughts do not define who you are and you are capable of accomplishing any aspiration. I grew up watching animated films and reading comics. Artists I am influenced by include Jamie Hewlett, Alberto Mielgo, and Glen Keane. Art style is a personal journey and my art style is constantly evolving due to influence of personal experiences or exposure to new techniques and mediums.
